Charlotte Artery received a great write-up in the latest copy of Charlotte Urban Home Magazine this month in an article covering the local art scene;

“One of the most robust expressions of Charlotte’s arty coming-out party is Charlotte Artery. Conceived by five of Charlotte’s most accomplished mid-career visual artists, Ashley Lathe, Bev Nagy, Daniel Allegrucci, Janet Lasher and Julie Benda, Artery lives to foster the local art scene, create space for studios and exhibitions and forge relationships that nurture and propel the city’s cultural offerings. Those are lofty goals, but closer to reach because of Artery’s energy.

Although, Charlotte Artery does not yet have a permanent space, they have hosted short-term exhibitions in a number of city hot spots including an abandoned warehouse on Bland Street in South End and Tutto Mondo Lounge on South Boulevard.

The future permanent site of Charlotte Artery will provide both studio space for member and guest artists, as well as gallery spaces for local artists to show and sell their work. The formal gallery will be a space for juried shows, exhibitions, installations, and bringing regional and national curators and artists into the gallery. The second gallery will be available to members of Charlotte Artery for solo and group exhibitions. These changing collections and exhibitions of two and three dimensional artwork, in combination with opening lectures, artist talks, and open studios, will continue to draw the community to the Charlotte Artery center and will continue to benefit the local artists who share the exhibition sand studio space at the center.”

A selection of works by Charlotte Artery members will be on display at Tutto Mundo Lounge through the month of December.

Tutto Mondo Lounge is a nightclub catering primarily to ‘thirty-something’ professionals, offering a refined location to entertain, meet, socialize, and party.

Come meet the artists December 1st as Tutto Mundo hosts a reception to kick off the exhibit between 7-10 pm. Tutto Mundo is located next to Pewter Rose on South Boulevard.

Janet Lasher, mixed media and fiber artist and member of the Charlotte Artery will be presenting some of her new work with fellow fiber artist, Susan Brubaker-Knapp at the Mint Museum 2730 Randolph Road, Charlotte December 1st, 7-8:30pm.

This program is presented through the Mint Museum’s First Tuesdays Artists’ Forum and is free to all.  Janet and Susan will be presenting their work and will discuss how it relates and diverges from the fine craft and tradition of American Quilting.

After the discussion, you are free to visit the current exhibition at the museum, American Quilt Classics 1800-1980: The Bressler Collection which will be at the Mint through February 6th, 2010.
